3. Make Notes and Recordings

We encourage you to bring an accompanier who can take notes for you and audio-record your treatment decision-making visits.

Our premedical interns may be available to accompany you on your visit, take notes, and audio-record your discussion with your doctor. Please call or email us to request this service. Telephone: (415) 476-6004

If you prefer to record the appointment yourself, or if an intern is not available, you can use a smartphone device or purchase an audio recorder. We have a list of recommended smartphone apps that provide question listing and recording functions. You can also purchase an audio recorder similar to the ones that our premedical interns use in the clinics.

Under California law, both parties to a recording must agree ahead of time. In most cases our clinicians are happy to be recorded, although this is always at their and your discretion. Check with your physician before activating a recorder.
